5DEV ALL MOUNTAIN PEDALS
The Pinnacle of Aerospace Engineering for Your Feet.
The 5DEV All Mountain Flat Pedals are a masterclass in functional art, manufactured by 5th Axis—a company that typically spends its time machining high-precision components for the aerospace and medical industries in San Diego, California. These aren't just pedals; they are a statement of engineering intent. Designed for riders who demand maximum grip, durability, and a low-profile aesthetic, the All Mountain flats offer a sophisticated CNC-machined platform that feels as planted as it looks.
What defines the 5DEV experience is the precision-milled concave platform. By machining the body with a subtle dip toward the axle, 5DEV has created a pedal that "cups" the sole of your shoe. This prevents your foot from skating across the surface in rough rock gardens or during heavy landings. Combined with a low-stack height to reduce pedal strikes, these are built for aggressive trail and enduro riding where traction is non-negotiable.
Engineering & Grip
CNC Machined 6061-T6 Aluminum: Each pedal body is milled from a solid block of aerospace-grade aluminum, ensuring exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and a finish that reveals the precision of the tool paths.
Large, Supportive Platform: At 106mm x 110mm, the platform provides ample real-estate for modern MTB shoes, offering a stable base that reduces foot fatigue on long, technical descents.
Custom Stainless Steel Pins: Features 24 replaceable pins per pedal (12 per side). These pins are strategically placed to bite into the rubber of your sole without being so long that they prevent micro-adjustments of your foot position.
Triple Bearing Internal System: Utilises a high-quality Igus bushing and three outboard bearings per side. This robust internal layout is designed to withstand the side-loading forces of aggressive cornering and the mud-and-dust reality of trail riding.
Key Features
Ultra-Low Profile: A 12mm thickness at the leading edge significantly reduces the chance of catching your pedals on rocks, roots, and ruts.
Oversized 17-4 Stainless Steel Axle: While many high-end pedals use Titanium, 5DEV opted for Heat-Treated 17-4 Stainless Steel for its superior stiffness and fatigue resistance, ensuring the pedals stay straight even after massive impacts.
Serviceable Design: The internals are designed to be easily maintained at home with standard tools, allowing you to keep them spinning smoothly for years.
Raw & Anodised Finishes: Available in a range of striking colours, including the iconic "Raw" finish which showcases the industrial CNC aesthetic that has made 5DEV a cult favourite.

✅ Why This IS For You
The Technical Trail Rider: If you ride loose, chunky terrain and need a pedal that offers "locked-in" security without the need for clips.
The Boutique Build Enthusiast: Perfect for riders who appreciate American-made, high-precision manufacturing and want their components to be a focal point of the bike.
Aggressive Enduro Racers: Ideal for those who push their gear to the limit and want a stiff, reliable axle that won't flex under heavy sprinting or G-outs.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
Strict Weight-Weenies: While light for their size, there are Titanium-axle pedals available that save a few extra grams if you are building an ultra-lightweight XC rig.
Casual Bike Path Riders: The aggressive pins on these pedals are designed to bite; if you ride in soft-soled casual shoes or sneakers, they may cause premature wear to your footwear.
BFC Pro Tip
The 5DEV All Mountain Pedals come with a set of shims for the pins, allowing you to customise the "bite" level. If you find the grip too aggressive for your local trails, adding a shim under the pins lowers their height slightly. Also, because these use a high-quality 17-4 stainless steel axle, they are incredibly stiff; make sure to use a small amount of anti-seize or waterproof grease on the threads before installing them into your cranks to ensure they remain easy to remove for servicing down the road!
