BBB INTEGRATED TAPRED HEAD SET 1 1/8 - 1 3/8 41.0MM BHP-455
The BBB Integrated Tapered BHP-455 Headset is a workshop-grade component engineered to restore smooth, precise, and friction-free steering control to your bicycle. Designed specifically for modern road, gravel, and mountain bike frames utilizing an integrated tapered headtube configuration, this headset drops directly into your frame's pre-moulded bearing seats for a completely clean, flush setup. By eliminating external cups, it minimises the frontend stack height while reinforcing structural stiffness under heavy cornering and braking forces.
At the core of this headset's exceptional longevity are high-grade chromium-molybdenum (CrMo) steel cartridge bearings. These bearings are robustly sealed to lock out water, fine trail dust, and road grit, preventing the premature pitting and corrosion that leads to rough, index-style steering. The unit is highly user-friendly, featuring an open crown race design that allows for seamless, tool-free installation and removal over your fork steerer without needing a workshop slide hammer. Topped off with a sleek 15mm black anodised aluminium cone spacer, the BHP-455 delivers a neat, integrated look that stands up to the harshest Australian riding conditions.
Key Features
Premium Sealed CrMo Bearings: High-tensile steel cartridge bearings are robustly sealed against water intrusion and grinding dirt to ensure long-term, silk-smooth rotation.
Integrated Tapered Profile: Designed to drop directly into the frame's headtube, reducing stack height while maximizing frontend stiffness and steering precision.
Open Crown Race Architecture: Engineered with a split/open crown race to allow fast, scratch-free installation and removal over the fork steerer without specialized tools.
Aluminium Cone Spacer: Supplied with a matching 15mm black anodised alloy top cap cover to neatly shield the upper assembly from sweat and rainwater.
Widespread Serviceability: Compatible with official BBB BHP-945 replacement cartridge bearings, ensuring hassle-free maintenance down the track without replacing the entire unit.

✅ Why This IS For You
Steering Feels Notchy or Gritty: Perfect if your bike’s current front end feels rough when turning or has developed annoying play that rattles over rough bitumen.
Own an Integrated Tapered Frame: Ideal if you are overhauling a modern road or gravel frame that utilises a 42mm top and 47mm bottom headtube.
Do Your Own Home Mechanics: The split, open crown race makes this an absolute dream for home mechanics who do not own an expensive workshop crown race setting tool.
Ride in Harsh Weather Conditions: Excellent for year-round commuters and local racers who need heavily sealed steel bearings that can survive road spray and frequent bike washes.
Want a Sleek Cockpit Aesthetic: The low-profile integrated drop-in design coupled with the matching black alloy spacer gives your bike a neat, factory-fresh look.
❌ Why This May NOT Be For You
Run a Straight 1 1/8" Steerer Fork: Built strictly for modern tapered fork steerer tubes; it will not secure a traditional straight-steerer fork without a specialised conversion race.
Frame Uses Semi-Integrated Cups: If your bike frame requires semi-integrated zero-stack cups (ZS44 or ZS55) pressed into the headtube, this drop-in integrated unit will not fit.
Own a 1.5" Mega-Taper Mountain Bike: Incompatible with heavy-duty enduro or downhill mountain bikes that utilise the larger, wider 1 1/8" to 1.5" (52mm lower bearing) headset standard.
BFC Pro Tip
When installing the BBB BHP-455 headset, never drop the bearings into a dry frame! Even though the cartridge bearings themselves are sealed, moisture and sweat can easily creep between the outer race of the bearing and the raw carbon or alloy seats of your frame's headtube, causing annoying creaking noises when you pedal hard out of the saddle. Apply a generous layer of high-quality waterproof marine grease directly onto the frame's internal bearing seats before dropping the cartridges in. This creates a waterproof barrier that completely eliminates creaks, stops the bearings from seizing inside the frame over time, and makes future maintenance a total breeze!
