GARMIN HRM 600 HEART RATE MONITER
The Next Generation of Performance Tracking.
The Garmin HRM-600 represents a significant leap forward in heart rate strap technology, taking the advanced features of the previous "Pro" series and modernising them for the most data-hungry athletes. This is Garmin’s first high-end chest strap to feature a rechargeable battery and a removable pod, addressing two of the biggest requests from the cycling and triathlon communities. Whether you are swimming in the Indian Ocean, hitting a technical trail, or playing a team sport where a watch isn't allowed, the HRM-600 captures every beat with medical-grade precision.
The standout evolution here is the standalone capability. The HRM-600 doesn't just broadcast; it records. It can store your heart rate, steps, calories, and intensity minutes directly on the device and sync them to your Garmin Connect app later. This is paired with expanded Running Dynamics, providing advanced metrics like "step speed loss" to help you understand exactly how much efficiency you lose when your foot strikes the ground—data that was previously only available in lab settings.
Key Features
Rechargeable Power: Moves away from coin-cell batteries, offering up to 2 months of life (at 1 hour/day use) with a proprietary Garmin plug charger. A quick 10-minute "emergency charge" provides 2 hours of use.
Removable & Washable Pod: The electronics pod can be popped out, allowing the strap to be machine-washed more effectively, significantly extending the life of the elastic and sensors.
Tri-Band Connectivity: Supports unlimited ANT+ connections and up to 3 concurrent Bluetooth Low Energy channels, allowing you to pair with your Edge computer, a Tacx trainer, and a smartphone app simultaneously.
Store & Forward for Swimmers: Automatically stores heart rate data during your swim and pushes it to your compatible Garmin watch as soon as you exit the water.
Built-in Status LED: Features a tri-colour LED that provides instant feedback on pairing status, wake-up mode, and battery levels.
Physical Wake/Pair Button: Includes a tactile button to manually wake the device or enter pairing mode, eliminating the "shake-to-wake" frustrations of older models.

✅ Why This IS For You
Multi-Sport Athletes: If you participate in swimming, martial arts, or team sports where wearing a watch on your wrist is either prohibited or impractical.
Sustainability-Minded Riders: Perfect for those who want to eliminate single-use coin-cell batteries from their gear kit.
Data-Driven Runners: Essential for those who want to analyse their form via ground contact time balance, vertical oscillation, and the new step speed loss metrics.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
The "Set-and-Forget" Crowd: If you prefer a battery that you only change once a year, the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus with its CR2032 coin cell might be more convenient.
Basic Heart Rate Needs: If you only need to see your heart rate on your Edge screen and don't care about running dynamics or internal storage, the Garmin HRM-Dual is a more affordable, focused choice.
BFC Pro Tip
The HRM-600 features a specialized "Secure BLE" mode to comply with modern privacy standards. If you are having trouble pairing it with a non-Garmin third-party app, try double-pressing the button on the pod; this toggles between secure and standard Bluetooth modes. To ensure the most accurate data, we always recommend moistening the electrode pads on the inside of the strap with a little water or contact gel before you head out—especially during the drier months in WA when it takes longer to build up a natural sweat for conductivity!
