ARUNDEL MANDIBLE CARBON CAGE MATT UD
Tactical Precision Meets Absolute Security.
The Arundel Mandible is widely regarded by professional mechanics and world-class athletes as the most reliable bottle cage ever produced. While many carbon cages sacrifice grip for weight savings, the Mandible is engineered with a singular focus: absolute bottle security. Its name is derived from its "jaw-like" shape, featuring a specialized structural design that provides an incredibly high-friction grip on your water bottles, ensuring they never eject, even on the roughest gravel tracks or the most broken urban roads.
The Matt UD (Unidirectional) finish offers a stealthy, understated aesthetic that showcases the raw carbon fiber orientation without the reflection of a gloss coat. It is the cage of choice for riders who demand a "set and forget" solution that complements modern matte-finish frames. Whether you are racing a Grand Tour or navigating technical off-road descents, the Mandible ensures your hydration stays exactly where you put it.
Key Performance Features
Structural Carbon Layup: Constructed with a foam core wrapped in high-modulus carbon fiber. This creates a "stiff but light" architecture that doesn't lose its "spring" or grip over years of use.
Extreme Retention Force: The geometric shape and material stiffness provide a clamping force that is significantly higher than traditional plastic or alloy cages, virtually eliminating "bottle launch."
Ultra-Lightweight Performance: Despite its heavy-duty grip, the Mandible weighs in at a scant 28 grams, making it an ideal choice for weight-conscious builds.
Versatile Mounting: Features two sets of mounting holes, allowing for approximately 10mm of vertical adjustment to optimize bottle clearance on small frames or bikes with frame bags.
Matt UD Finish: The unidirectional carbon weave provides a sleek, tactical look that matches perfectly with matte-finish carbon frames, offering a high-end feel that resists visible fingerprints.
Tested in Hell: Proven over the cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix, where its reputation for reliability was cemented by professional teams who refuse to use anything else.

✅ Why This IS For You
The Gravel & MTB Rider: If you are tired of losing bottles on bumpy descents, the Mandible is the ultimate mechanical solution to bottle ejections.
Matte Frame Owners: Specifically finished to blend seamlessly with modern matte or "stealth" paint schemes without the jarring contrast of a glossy component.
Small Frame Owners: The dual-mounting positions are a lifesaver for riders with limited space inside the front triangle, allowing the cage to be mounted lower for better clearance.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
Side-Access Needs: The Mandible is a traditional top-load cage. If your frame is extremely compact and you cannot pull a bottle straight up, you may require a dedicated side-load cage.
Budget-First Builds: As a premium carbon component, the Mandible is an investment. If you are looking for similar performance at a lower price point, the Arundel GTR (nylon) is an excellent alternative.
BFC Pro Tip
The Mandible has such a strong grip that it can occasionally be "sticky" with certain non-standard bottle shapes. For the absolute best experience, we recommend pairing it with Specialized Purist or Camelbak Podium bottles, which have a shoulder shape that fits the Mandible’s jaw perfectly. When installing, always use a small amount of carbon assembly paste on the back of the cage where it meets the frame; this prevents any micro-vibrations or creaking on carbon-to-carbon interfaces. Finally, don't over-torque the mounting bolts—2Nm to 3Nm is more than enough to keep this lightweight masterpiece secure!
