The Basil Shopper Bag XL is a high-capacity, versatile pannier designed for the cyclist who needs a seamless transition from the bike to the supermarket or office. With a generous 20-litre internal volume, this bag offers significantly more space than a standard pannier, making it ideal for bulky grocery hauls, gym gear, or work essentials.
Constructed from water-repellent polyester, the bag is built to handle the varied conditions of daily urban riding. Its standout feature is the Hook-On System, which is discreetly hidden behind a zippered flap. This allows you to securely attach the bag to your rear luggage carrier in seconds, but once you arrive at your destination, it looks and carries like a premium shoulder tote rather than a piece of bike luggage.
20L XL Capacity: An oversized main compartment that provides ample room for a full bag of groceries or a change of clothes and a laptop.
Hidden Hook-On System: Features Basil’s patented mounting hooks that fit almost any rear rack (including e-bikes). When carrying the bag off the bike, the hooks zip away for maximum comfort against your side.
Water-Repellent Fabric: High-quality polyester helps protect your contents from light rain and road spray, ensuring your gear stays dry during transit.
Internal Storage & Organization: Includes a zippered inner pocket for securing valuables like your phone, wallet, or keys, preventing them from getting lost at the bottom of the large main compartment.
Enhanced Visibility: Equipped with reflective strips on both sides, improving your side-on visibility to motorists when riding in low-light or night-time conditions.
Durable Carry Straps: Reinforced shoulder straps designed to handle the weight of a full 20L load comfortably when walking through the shops.

The Urban Commuter: If you need a bag that doesn't "look like a bike bag" when you walk into a meeting or a café, the sleek Shopper XL is the perfect choice.
The Weekly Market Goer: Ideal for those who use their bike for grocery runs; the wide-mouth opening makes it incredibly easy to pack and unpack bulky items.
E-Bike Riders: The mounting hooks are specifically designed to clear battery compartments on most modern e-bike rear racks.
Heavy Touring/Expedition: While water-repellent, this is not a fully submersible waterproof roll-top. For cross-continental touring in heavy downpours, a Basil Miles Waterproof Pannier would be more suitable.
Front Rack Users: This bag is designed specifically for rear luggage carriers; the hook system is generally too wide for most narrow front-lowrider racks.
To maximize the life of your Basil Shopper, always ensure the zippered flap covering the hooks is fully closed when you're carrying it as a tote—this prevents the hooks from snagging on your clothing. When riding with a heavy load (near the 5kg limit), try to mount the bag as far back on your rack as possible to provide better heel clearance while pedaling. If you frequently ride in very heavy rain, we recommend keeping a small Basil Rain Cover in the internal pocket for that extra layer of 100% waterproof protection!
