FORM BIKE FITTING SPEEDPLAY CLEAT EXTERNDER PLATE MLR618
The Ultimate Solution for Precision Foot Positioning.
The Form Bike Fitting Speedplay Cleat Extender Plate (MLR618) is a specialized tuning tool designed for cyclists who have reached the adjustment limits of their standard Speedplay (Wahoo) cleats. Developed by professional bike fitters, this extender plate allows for a significantly increased range of rearward (aft) adjustment. Moving the cleat further back toward the mid-foot can be a game-changer for riders dealing with persistent "hot spots," calf strain, or Achilles tendon issues by shifting the load away from the smaller muscles of the lower leg.
Crafted from high-grade, lightweight aluminum, the MLR618 is engineered to maintain a low stack height, ensuring that your power transfer remains direct and efficient. This plate acts as a bridge between your 3-hole road shoe and the Speedplay 4-hole mounting system, providing the extra millimeters of movement that standard base plates simply cannot offer.
Key Features
Enhanced Aft Adjustment: Specifically engineered to provide additional rearward positioning beyond the standard Speedplay base plate limits.
Precision Aluminum Construction: CNC-machined from lightweight, high-strength aluminum for maximum durability and a rock-solid pedaling platform.
Low-Profile Design: Carefully designed to minimize stack height, keeping your foot as close to the pedal spindle as possible for optimal power transfer.
Biomechanical Relief: Ideal for shifting pressure away from the ball of the foot, helping to eliminate "hot spots" and reduce strain on the Achilles tendon.
4-Hole to 3-Hole Integration: Functions seamlessly as a replacement or enhancement for the standard Speedplay adapter, fitting all standard 3-bolt road shoes.
Professional Grade: Developed and tested by bike fitting experts to solve complex ergonomic issues that standard hardware cannot address.

✅ Why This IS For You
Riders with "Hot Spots": If you experience burning or numbness in the ball of your foot and have already tried moving your cleats as far back as they will go.
Long-Distance & Ultra-Cyclists: Perfect for those seeking a more stable, mid-foot pedaling position to reduce calf fatigue over hundreds of kilometers.
Cyclists with Large Feet: Ideal for riders who find that standard cleat positions leave them feeling "too far forward" over the pedal axle.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
High-Cadence Sprinters: If you prefer a very "forward" (toe-down) sprinting style, the extreme rearward positioning offered by these plates may feel counter-intuitive.
Standard Fit Success: If your current Speedplay setup feels perfect and you have plenty of adjustment room left, these specialized extender plates are likely unnecessary.
BFC Pro Tip
The MLR618 Extender Plate is a powerful tool for fixing "hot spots," but remember that moving your cleats significantly rearward will effectively lower your saddle height. When you install these, we recommend lowering your saddle by roughly 2–5mm to compensate for the change in leg extension. Also, because these plates are aluminum, a tiny drop of blue Loctite (threadlocker) on the mounting bolts is a great idea to ensure everything stays rock-solid during high-torque efforts. If you’re struggling to find that "perfect" foot position, these plates are often the missing piece of the puzzle!
