GALFER HOPE X2 BRAKE PADS
The Galfer Hope X2 Disc Brake Pads (Model FD467) are premium aftermarket upgrades designed to unlock the absolute maximum performance from your Hope cross-country or gravel braking system. Manufactured in Barcelona, Spain, these pads replace low-performance factory setups with an advanced organic semi-metal compound tailored specifically for bicycle dynamics. By focusing on progressive lever feel and stable heat dissipation, Galfer ensures consistent, predictable stopping power throughout the entire operating lifespan of the pad, drastically increasing rider confidence on technical terrain.
To perfectly suit your local trails and riding conditions, this pad is available in two distinct configurations:
G1053 Standard (Black Backplate): The ultimate universal multi-purpose option. It provides an exceptionally balanced compromise between aggressive bite, absolute silence, and high durability. It is the perfect choice for amateur trail riders, XC racers, gravel grinders, and daily commuters who need reliable everyday performance in dry-to-mixed conditions.
G1851 Advanced (Red Backplate): Engineered specifically to conquer extreme terrain and hostile weather. Formulated with high-tech basaltic fibres and a specialised moisture-absorbing surface coating, the Advanced compound repels water and thick mud. This allows it to maintain structural friction and high-temperature fade resistance where standard pads completely slip and lose power.
Key Features
Organic Semi-Metal Chemistry: Premium asbestos-free compound formulation blends smooth organic modulation with hard-wearing metallic longevity.
Vibration and Noise Elimination: Specially structured to prevent annoying high-pitched brake squeal and harsh harmonic vibrations through the bike frame.
Reduced Disc Rotor Wear: Soft-precision compound density minimises abrasive scoring on expensive steel brake rotors, extending your hardware's lifespan.
Basaltic Fibre Integration (Advanced): The G1851 Advanced model utilizes innovative volcanic rock strands to actively absorb moisture and maintain extreme wet-weather bite.
High-Temperature Fade Resistance: Engineered to resist thermal expansion and fluid boiling under heavy, continuous braking on steep alpine descents.
Permanent Predictable Response: Designed to deliver the exact same lever feel and deceleration rate from the first millimetre of pad material to the last.

✅ Why This IS For You
Demand Absolute Silent Braking: Perfect if you are driven crazy by noisy brakes; both compounds are highly acclaimed for their quiet, squeal-free operation.
Ride a Mix of Trails and Commutes: The Standard G1053 option is ideal if you want a reliable, cost-effective "set-and-forget" pad that performs beautifully across road, gravel, and singletrack.
Suffer From Wet Winter Mud: The Advanced G1851 is a must-have for winter trail riders who frequently find themselves grinding through sloppy puddles and rain-soaked forest tracks.
Value Fine Brake Modulation: Excellent if you prefer a progressive, highly tactile lever feel that lets you feather the brakes around loose corners without instantly locking the wheels.
Want to Protect Expensive Rotors: Perfect if you are running premium lightweight disc rotors and want to avoid the rapid gouging and wear caused by harsh full-metallic sintered pads.
❌ Why This May NOT Be For You
Run 4-Piston Downhill Brakes: Built exclusively to match the compact dimensions of 2-piston Hope X2 calipers; heavy-duty 4-piston Tech 3/Tech 4 E4 or V4 systems require entirely different pad shapes.
Want Zero Running-In Time: These organic compounds require a thorough, patient bedding-in process to transfer material to the rotor before reaching maximum friction limits.
Ride a High-Weight Cargo E-Bike: While highly durable, heavy e-mountain bikes or loaded cargo rigs experiencing massive continuous loads are better suited to Galfer's purple G1652 e-bike specific compound.
BFC Pro Tip
To unlock the true stopping power of your new Galfer pads, you must perform a proper bedding-in cycle—failing to do so will glaze the organic binders and permanently ruin their performance. Find a safe, gentle hill, accelerate up to roughly 20–25km/h, and firmly but smoothly apply the brakes until you drop to a walking pace. Repeat this process 20 to 25 times per wheel without coming to a complete stop or locking up the tyres. This carefully transfers a microscopic, even layer of pad material onto your steel disc rotor, eliminating microscopic air gaps and ensuring an incredibly crisp, powerful, and fade-free bite on your very first real trail session!
