LEWIS - AX DISC BRAKE SET - BLACK
The Lewis AX Disc Brake Set is a game-changer for gravity-fed riders seeking uncompromising power and precision tuning.Machined entirely from premium 7075-T6 aerospace-grade aluminium, the master cylinder and monobloc caliper deliver exceptional structural rigidity with incredibly low flex, translating every millimetre of lever pull into direct stopping force.
At the heart of the system is an oversized asymmetric 4-piston layout featuring two 18mm and two 20mm stainless steel pistons with integrated insulation layers. This massive surface area delivers absolute authority over technical descents, while the clever staggered configuration provides a highly predictable, progressive lever modulation. To combat thermal fade on long Alpine or bike park tracks, the monobloc caliper features independent cooling fins paired with high-performance sintered and carbon ceramic pads to quickly dissipate heat.
Ergonomics are entirely customisable via a patented triple adjustment system.Riders can fine-tune lever reach and pad bite point completely tool-free, while a dedicated dial adjusts the mechanical leverage ratio via a 1.5mm Allen key to instantly alter the overall stiffness and feel of the lever action.
Key Features
Massive Asymmetric 4-Piston Power: Equipped with oversized 18mm and 20mm insulated stainless steel pistons that supply unmatched clamping force and balanced modulation.
Triple Adjustment System: Features tool-free adjustment for lever reach and bite point, alongside an adjustable leverage ratio to tune the mechanical advantage to your exact riding style.
Monobloc Caliper with Cooling Fins: Engineered with an integrated cooling fin layout to dramatically improve heat dissipation and eliminate brake fade during sustained descents.
Premium CNC 7075-T6 Construction: The entire master cylinder and caliper assembly are CNC-machined from high-grade aluminium for maximum strength-to-weight performance.
Braided T200 Oil Hose: Uses high-durability, premium braided hoses filled with mineral oil to maintain a crisp, consistent lever feel that resists expansion under immense pressure.
Ergonomic Split Clamp Design: Allows for effortless installation and handlebar cockpit adjustments without needing to strip down your grips or shifter assemblies.

✅ Why This IS For You
Gravity Enthusiasts: You live for steep, technical downhill tracks and enduro racing where absolute stopping power can make or break a podium run.
The Ultimate Tinkerer: You want complete control over your cockpit ergonomics, including how early the pads bite and how stiff the lever feels under pressure.
Long Descent Lifers: Perfect if you frequently ride long alpine trails or bike parks and suffer from arm pump or brake fade with standard setups.
Premium Build Collectors: You appreciate gorgeous, high-precision CNC machining and high-end materials like insulated stainless steel and braided lines.
Heavy-Duty Setup Users: Ideal if you prefer running ultra-thick 2.3mm rotors for maximum thermal mass and mechanical stability.
❌ Why This May NOT Be For You
Weight-Weenie XC Riders: The oversized calipers and high-power master cylinders are prioritised for gravity riding rather than featherweight cross-country setups.
Budget Builders: These are premium, elite-tier performance brakes representing a significant financial investment compared to basic entry-level options.
Set-and-Forget Minimalists: If the thought of tuning three independent variables (reach, bite, and leverage ratio) feels overwhelming, a simpler plug-and-play brake might suit you better.
BFC PRO TIP
The Lewis AX system features an incredibly powerful mechanical leverage ratio adjustment. When setting them up, start with the leverage ratio dial right in the middle. Spend your first few trail runs adjusting your tool-free reach and bite point first. Once you have your fingers perfectly positioned, use a 1.5mm Allen key to loosen the set screws and adjust the leverage ratio knob—turning it will dramatically change the brake from a smooth, highly modular trail feel to a sharp, instant downhill bite. Always remember to re-tighten those tiny set screws after tuning so your perfect settings stay locked in on the rough stuff!
