LEWIS FX STEM 35 X 42MM
The Lewis FX High-Intensity Stem is built for riders who demand zero cockpit flex and absolute steering accuracy when charging hard down technical singletrack and rowdy descents. CNC-machined from a solid block of premium aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum, this stem bypasses cheap casting methods to deliver an incredible strength-to-weight ratio. Engineered specifically for oversized 35mm handlebars, it features an aggressive 40mm length (often categorized in standard line configurations as a 35/42mm variant layout) that shortens your cockpit to sharpen steering response and place your weight perfectly over the front wheel.
What sets the Lewis FX stem apart is its innovative, overbuilt clamping architecture. Boasting a massive 70mm clamping width—which is 3mm to 4mm broader than standard trail stems—it dramatically improves lateral rigidity during high-speed, rough descents. The unique single-end locking faceplate design relies on a clever "no-gap" top interface that ensures symmetrical clamping loads, preventing improper torque installation. Combined with extended 15mm individual faceplate profiles, it expands the contact footprint to disperse stress, significantly reducing the risk of fatigue or scoring on high-end carbon handlebars.
Key Features
CNC-Machined 7075-T6 Alloy: Sculpted from a solid block of aerospace-grade aluminum to supply downhill-rated structural integrity without the weight penalty.
Oversized 70mm Clamp Width: Measures 3mm to 4mm wider than generic upright stems to deliver ultimate torsional stiffness and pinpoint front-wheel tracking.
No-Gap Single-End Locking: The faceplate design clamps completely flush at the top, simplifying the torque process and removing dangerous installation stress points.
Carbon Handlebar Friendly: Features extra-wide 15mm individual contact surfaces to spread clamping friction and safeguard carbon bars against cracking.
Premium Hardware Options: Available with either high-tensile stainless steel or weight-saving titanium fasteners to fine-tune your cockpit build.
Vibrant Anodised Finishes: Offered in a stunning palette of deep anodized colorways, including unique dual-tone Golden Jade and Nebula layouts.

✅ Why This IS For You
Hard-Charging Enduro Racers: The massive 70mm width gives you unyielding, rock-solid leverage when wrestling your bike through high-speed rock gardens or deep ruts.
Carbon Handlebar Users: The widened 15mm contact clamps act as an insurance policy, protecting your delicate carbon bar fibers from crushing or scoring.
Bling-Minded Custom Builders: Ideal if you love a highly styled cockpit, matching perfectly with Lewis's premium brake setups or vibrant frame colors.
Precision Home Mechanics: The zero-gap top faceplate design eliminates the annoying game of trying to balance equal bolt gaps on the top and bottom during install.
❌ Why This May NOT Be For You
Cross-Country Weight Minimalists: While very light for its strength class, ultra-marathon or pure XC weight weenies may prefer a narrower, minimalist trail stem.
Traditional 31.8mm Bar Owners: Built exclusively around modern, oversized 35mm handlebar clamping zones; it will not accommodate older 31.8mm bars without shims.
Pure Downhill Direct-Mount Rigs: Designed for single-crown forks; long-travel downhill racing bikes using dual-crown forks will require a dedicated direct-mount crown stem.
BFC Pro Tip
Because the Lewis FX stem utilizes a specialized single-end locking design, your torque sequence is different from a standard stem. Always push the top of the faceplate completely flush against the stem body first, and tighten the top bolts fully to the recommended torque spec until there is absolutely no gap. Only after the top is completely locked should you torque down the bottom bolts to spec. This forces the faceplate to warp slightly into position, providing an incredibly uniform grip that stops your bars from slipping or creaking during heavy nose-heavy landings!
