The Maurten Gel Mix 480 introduces a completely new consistency to endurance fueling—thicker than traditional drink mix, yet more fluid than standard gel sachets. Purpose-built for athletes tackling extreme distances or long training blocks, each single sachet packs a massive 120g of carbohydrates to simplify high-intake nutrition strategies without the fuss of carrying endless individual gels.
Utilising Maurten's patented Hydrogel Technology, the liquid-gel mix remains neutral until it reacts with stomach acid. Once inside the stomach, it transforms into a hydrogel matrix that encapsulates the carbohydrates, enabling smooth passage into the small intestine for rapid absorption with minimal risk of gastrointestinal distress or stomach sloshing.
Designed to be mixed into a soft flask (such as the Maurten Gel Mix Flask 350 mL) with just 200 mL of water, it offers maximum fuel density in a compact footprint. It contains no artificial flavours, colourants, or preservatives, giving athletes a clean, neutral taste that can be customized using Maurten Additions for multi-hour events.
High-Density Carb Formula: Delivers an impressive 120g of carbohydrates and 480 kcal per sachet when dissolved in 200 mL of water.
Patented Hydrogel Technology: Encapsulates carbohydrates to facilitate fast gastric emptying and reduce gut distress under heavy exercise loads.
Neutral, Customizable Taste: Formulated without artificial flavours or colourants, allowing seamless pairing with Maurten Additions to fight flavour fatigue.
Carbohydrate Content: 120g per sachet
Energy Output: 480 kcal (2008 kJ) per sachet
Required Water Volume: 200 mL
✅ Ultra-Endurance Fueling: Perfect for long-distance marathoners, ironman triathletes, and ultra-cyclists needing 90g+ of carbs per hour.
✅ Gut-Friendly Design: Ideal for athletes who suffer from stomach cramping or nausea when consuming high volumes of traditional gels.
✅ Pocket Space Saver: Replaces up to five standard single-serve gel sachets with one compact soft flask setup.
❌ Short Workouts: Excessive for low-intensity sessions or brief workouts lasting under 90 minutes.
❌ Requires Prep Work: Must be mixed with water in advance using a soft flask rather than ripped open straight out of the box.
❌ Higher Fluid Viscosity: Not a standard liquid hydration drink; the thicker texture requires a squeeze flask or bite valve for consumption.
Mix one sachet of Gel Mix 480 with 200 mL of water in your soft flask the night before your big race or long training ride, then pop it in the fridge. The mixture can be stored cold for up to 72 hours, giving the hydrogel structure plenty of time to fully hydrate for a silky-smooth consistency on race morning!
If you like, I can pull together compatible soft flasks, additional hydrogel options, or flavor additives tailored to your training setup. Do you want me to do that?
