The Pirelli x Cast Protagonist DualWall TLR Tyre 29 x 2.40 represents a cutting-edge technical partnership between the gravity-defying experts at Cast and the motorsport-derived engineering powerhouse of Pirelli. Purpose-built to handle the violent impacts, unpredictable surfaces, and high-velocity demands of modern downhill and enduro tracks, this flagship front-biased tyre delivers an incredible amount of traction and communication. Whether you are hunting for podiums on loose alpine tracks, slamming technical rock gardens, or railing damp, loamy berms, the Protagonist provides the unflinching stability required to confidently push the limits of your machine.

The structural foundation of this tyre is Pirelli's robust DualWall gravity carcass. Featuring a 2-ply 120 TPI nylon casing fortified with heavy-duty rubber inserts bonded directly into the sidewalls, it offers maximum protection against pinch flats, structural casing tears, and harsh rim-bottoming impacts. This heavy-duty structure allows you to confidently run lower operating pressures to maximise your contact patch without risking structural damage.

At the tread surface, a unique V-design layout alters the level of cornering support based on your exact lean angle, transmitting a highly informative feel as you initiate a directional change. Ramped pockets cut into the aggressive shoulder knobs prevent the outer blocks from folding under high loads, while the supersoft, temperature-stable SmartEVO DH compound relies on a motorsport polymer matrix to provide elite damping and uncompromised chemical grip across dry hardpack, loose soil, and sloppy mud.

Key Features

• Intelligent V-Design Tread: Delivers highly progressive, informative side-to-side feedback as you lean the bike over, letting you feel exactly where the limits of traction sit.

• SmartEVO DH Rubber Compound: Pirelli’s softest, race-specific gravity formulation providing exceptional mechanical damping and chemical grip on wet or dry tracks.

• Heavy-Duty DualWall Carcass: Formed with a 2-ply 120 TPI nylon construction and reinforced sidewall rubber inserts to fend off nasty rock cuts and pinch flats.

• Ramped Shoulder Knob Pockets: Reinforces the outer cornering blocks to prevent folding or squirming when loading the tyre heavily into high-speed corners.

• Open Terrain Knob Spacing: Engineered with deliberate geometric gaps to facilitate deep soil penetration and fast, efficient mud clearing in wet conditions.
