SHIMANO 105 R7100 FRONT DERAILLEUR BRAZE ON
Smooth, Natural Shifting for the Modern Road Era.
The Shimano 105 FD-R7100 is the mechanical 12-speed front derailleur designed to bring professional-grade shifting performance to every rider. Part of the latest 105 R7100 series, this derailleur has been re-engineered to handle the wider gear range of modern 12-speed drivetrains while maintaining the light, intuitive lever action that Shimano is famous for. Whether you are climbing steep coastal inclines or sprinting on the flat, the R7100 provides fast, silent, and reliable chain movement between chainrings.
The "Braze-On" version is designed to bolt directly to a dedicated mount on your frame, offering a sleek, integrated look and maximum stiffness. A key technical advancement in this generation is the Link Construction, which incorporates an integrated cable tensioner. This eliminates the need for an external barrel adjuster on your cable housing, allowing for a cleaner cockpit and much easier fine-tuning of your shifting indexed via a single Allen key.
Key Features
12-Speed Mechanical Optimized: Specifically designed with a narrower cage profile to match the tighter tolerances of 12-speed chains and cassettes.
Toggle Link Construction: Features a re-designed pull ratio that creates a lighter, more linear shift stroke, reducing the effort required at the handlebar.
Integrated Cable Tensioner: Allows you to adjust cable tension directly on the derailleur using a 2mm hex wrench, simplifying the initial setup and long-term maintenance.
Increased Tyre Clearance: The compact mechanical arm is shaped to provide extra clearance for wider road tyres (up to 32mm+), perfect for modern endurance and all-road bikes.
Chrome-Plated Steel Cage: Provides a durable, low-friction surface that resists wear from the chain and ensures quiet operation even under heavy cross-chaining.

✅ Why This IS For You
The 12-Speed Upgrader: If you are building a new 12-speed mechanical road bike or upgrading your 11-speed frame to the latest Shimano standard.
Home Mechanics: The integrated tension adjustment makes this one of the easiest front derailleurs to set up perfectly without needing inline barrel adjusters.
Endurance Riders: Ideal if you run wider 28c or 32c tyres, as the redesigned linkage stays clear of the rubber even when in the small chainring.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
Di2 Users: This is the mechanical version. If you have the R7150 electronic groupset, you require the 105 Di2 FD-R7150 which uses a battery and motor.
Band-On Frames: If your bike frame does not have a "tab" (braze-on mount) on the seat tube, you will need a Shimano Front Derailleur Clamp (31.8mm or 34.9mm) to convert this to a band-on style.
BFC Pro Tip
The Shimano R7100 front derailleur uses a "support bolt" to increase stiffness. When installing it, make sure the small metal backup plate is stuck to your frame where the support bolt makes contact. Tightening this bolt against the frame prevents the derailleur from "flexing" outward during a shift into the big ring, resulting in a much snappier, more immediate gear change. Also, because 12-speed tolerances are tight, always use a genuine Shimano 12-speed chain to ensure the shift ramps on the derailleur cage align perfectly!
