SHIMANO G04S METAL BRAKE PADS
Upgrading to Shimano G04S metal brake pads ensures uncompromising stopping performance when the trail turns hostile. Formulated from a high-strength sintered metallic compound, these pads are designed to withstand extreme thermal stress and abrasive trail grit. Unlike organic alternatives that wear down quickly in adverse weather, the G04S compound maintains its fierce structural integrity, offering an incredibly long service life and predictable, hard-hitting bite during heavy braking.
Built on a robust stainless steel backing plate, these G-type narrow profile pads focus purely on raw durability and fade resistance without the added bulk of external radiator cooling fins. The dense metallic matrix is engineered specifically to scrape through layers of mud, water, and sand, making them the default choice for mountain bikers, loaded cycle tourers, and demanding daily commuters who ride year-round.Supplied with a new pad retraction spring and a fresh split pin, they provide a seamless, direct swap to restore confidence in your braking system.
Key Features
Sintered Metal Compound: Engineered for absolute maximum stopping force and extreme wear resistance under high-load conditions.
All-Weather Supremacy: Maintains exceptional braking bite and consistency even when fully submerged in mud, water, or sand.
Stainless Steel Backing Plate: Provides a stiff, high-strength foundation that resists flexing under heavy lever pressure.
Narrow Type 'G' Profile: Standardized shape fits seamlessly into a vast range of Shimano's most popular 2-piston hydraulic systems.
Comprehensive Service Pack: Comes complete with a high-tension retraction spring and a split locking pin for a safe overhaul.

Why This IS For You
✓ Mud and Wet Weather Riding: Perfect for mountain bikers and gravel riders who do not let winter or rainy seasons stop them from hitting wet, sloppy trails.
✓ Extreme Long Service Life: Highly economical for high-mileage riders who want to dramatically extend the time intervals between pad replacements.
✓ Heavy Duty and Loaded Touring: Ideal for e-bikes, cargo setups, or heavily loaded touring bikes that demand persistent stopping power on steep, sustained descents.
✓ Crisp, Immediate Lever Feel: Offers a firm, metallic "bite point" at the lever, giving you immediate tactile feedback the millisecond the pads contact the rotor.
✓ Genuine Factory Fit: Eliminates any safety concerns or fitment issues by utilizing Shimano’s exact dimensions and official compounding standards.
Why This May NOT Be For You
✓ Potential For Brake Noise: Sintered metallic compounds are prone to high-pitched squealing, especially when lightly applied or when damp, which can annoy acoustic purists.
✓ Requires Metallic-Compatible Rotors: You cannot use these pads on entry-level rotors stamped with "Resin Pads Only". Doing so will rapidly destroy the softer steel of those rotors.
✓ Longer Bedding-In Process: Metallic compounds require a significantly longer and more aggressive initial bedding-in procedure to reach their full operating power compared to soft resin options.
BFC PRO TIP
Before dropping these fresh metallic pads into your calliper, take a close look at your disc brake rotors. If you are switching from resin pads to these G04S metal pads, you must thoroughly clean your old rotors with dedicated brake cleaner and clean rag—or better yet, give them a light scuff with fine-grit sandpaper. This removes the old glazed-on resin film. If you skip this step, the old resin residue will contaminate the new metallic material, severely hurting your ultimate stopping power and causing a permanent, annoying squeal!
