SHIMANO G04TI METAL BRAKE PADS
The Lightweight Powerhouse for Trail & XC.
The Shimano G04Ti Metal Brake Pads are a professional-grade upgrade designed for riders who demand the highest levels of durability and heat management in a lightweight package. Featuring a high-friction sintered metal compound paired with a premium Titanium backing plate, these pads are engineered to provide a rock-solid, consistent lever feel during the most demanding technical descents.
By utilizing titanium instead of traditional steel, Shimano has created a pad that offers a superior thermal barrier. This prevents heat from transferring from the braking surface into your caliper's pistons and mineral oil, effectively reducing "brake fade" and ensuring your stopping power remains predictable from the top of the mountain to the bottom.
Key Features
Titanium Backing Plate: The high-tech titanium construction provides exceptional strength and weight savings while acting as an advanced thermal insulator.
Sintered Metal Compound: Delivers a powerful, aggressive initial bite and maintains a consistent friction coefficient even under extreme temperatures.
Superior Durability: The hardened metal construction is highly resistant to wear, offering a significantly longer lifespan than resin pads, especially in abrasive conditions.
All-Weather Performance: Engineered to maintain maximum stopping power in mud, rain, and grit, making them the definitive choice for winter riding and cyclocross.
Fade Resistance: The combination of metal friction material and a titanium plate ensures predictable performance during long, sustained braking efforts.
Quiet & Rigid: Despite the metal compound, the titanium plate provides a stiff foundation that minimizes vibration and "chatter" under heavy load.

✅ Why This IS For You
Competitive XC & Trail Riders: If you are looking for the lightest possible metal pad to complement a high-end carbon race build.
Long-Distance Alpine Descenders: Perfect for riders tackling steep, technical terrain where heat management is critical for safety and performance.
Hardcore Winter Commuters: Ideal for those who ride in wet, gritty, or muddy conditions and want a pad that won't disappear after a few rainy weeks.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
Noise-Sensitive Riders: Like all metal pads, these can be noisier than resin alternatives, particularly when wet or before they reach operating temperature.
"Resin Only" Rotors: These pads are highly aggressive; ensure your rotors are marked "Metal Compatible." Using them on "Resin Only" discs will cause rapid rotor wear.
BFC Pro Tip
The G04Ti is a top-tier performance part, but it requires a proper "bedding-in" procedure to reach its full potential. Find a safe, flat stretch of road and perform 20 firm stops from about 25km/h down to a walking pace—this "mates" the sintered metal to the rotor for maximum power and a quieter ride. Because these have a titanium back, they are virtually immune to corrosion, but we still recommend a quick spray with a dedicated brake cleaner after a muddy ride to keep the surface from "glazing." If you want the ultimate 2-piston setup for your XTR or XT brakes, these are the gold standard!
