Unlike previous Di2 generations that relied on internal frame wiring, the RD-RX827 houses its own BT-DN320 battery directly within the derailleur body. This "power-on-board" design simplifies bike builds and maintenance while providing a clean, cable-free aesthetic. It also inherits the Automatic Impact Recovery function from Shimano's MTB line, allowing the motor to disengage and reset itself instantly after a rock strike.

• 2x Drivetrain Users: This derailleur is strictly 1x only. If you prefer a double chainring setup, you must use the Shimano GRX Di2 RD-RX825 (36T max).

• Weight Weenies: At roughly 449g, it is sturdier but heavier than road-specific derailleurs. If every gram counts and you don't need a 51T gear, a 105 or Ultegra Di2 setup might be lighter.

• Existing Wired Di2 Owners: This uses the newer SD300 architecture and a specific battery/charger; it is not backward compatible with older 11-speed or wired 12-speed road batteries.
