The secret to Squirt success is the "The First Clean." If you put Squirt over a chain that still has factory oil on it, it will just turn into a grey mess and won't bond. Use a strong degreaser on a new chain until it is "squeaky" clean, dry it thoroughly, and then apply two coats of Squirt (letting the first dry for 5 minutes). From then on, you never need to degrease again—just wipe the chain with a dry rag and re-apply!
