The Trail-Gator Tow Bar is a world-renowned folding tow bar that transforms a standard child’s bike into a safe, towable trailer cycle in seconds. It is the perfect bridge for young riders who are confident on their own wheels but lack the endurance for longer family adventures or the ability to navigate busy roads safely. When the tow bar is connected, the child’s front wheel is lifted off the ground, and their handlebar is stabilized, giving the adult full control over steering and braking.
The "Red" edition is the classic, high-visibility finish that has made Trail-Gator a staple for cycling families for decades. One of its greatest strengths is its versatility; when your child wants to ride independently, the tow bar unhooks in seconds and folds down to be stored securely against the side of the adult bike. This allows for a "hybrid" ride where the child can pedal on their own in the park and be towed home when they get tired.
Quick-Connect System: Once the initial brackets are installed, the bar can be attached or detached in under 30 seconds without any tools.
Telescoping Design: The bar is made of heavy-duty steel and slides into itself for compact storage along the chainstay of the adult bike when not in use.
Front-Wheel Stabilizer: Includes a specialized bracket that keeps the child’s handlebars straight while being towed, preventing "tank-slapper" wobbles.
Universal Fitting: Compatible with most standard adult mountain and hybrid bikes and nearly all children’s bikes from 12" to 20" wheel sizes.
Durable Powder-Coat Finish: The vibrant red finish is weather-resistant and highly visible, adding an extra layer of safety for road-adjacent riding.

The "Tired Legs" Fix: Ideal for families who want to go on 10km+ rides without worrying about a 5-year-old running out of steam halfway through.
Safety-Conscious Parents: Perfect for navigating busy intersections or high-traffic areas before letting the child ride free in a dedicated park or bike path.
Multi-Bike Families: A great alternative to expensive dedicated "tag-alongs," as it allows the child to use their own familiar bike that they already love.
Carbon Seatpost Users: The Trail-Gator clamps directly to the adult seatpost. DO NOT use this on carbon fiber seatposts, as the clamping force and leverage can cause the post to fail. Always swap to an alloy post for towing.
Drop-Bar Road Bikes: While it fits many bikes, the geometry of some aggressive road bikes can make the towing position feel unstable. It is best suited for MTBs, Hybrids, or Cruiser bikes.
The secret to a stable Trail-Gator experience is clamp tightness. After your first 5-10 minutes of riding, stop and check the seatpost bracket and the child’s head-tube bracket. These components often "settle" during the first mile, and a quick extra turn of the bolt ensures the child’s bike doesn't start to lean to one side. Also, ensure your child's bike has a freewheel (they can coast without the pedals moving); if they have a "back-pedal" coaster brake, remind them not to pedal backward while being towed, or they might accidentally engage the brakes!
