GALFER HOPE E4 / RX4 BRAKE PADS
Precision Braking for Every Discipline.
Galfer’s FD465 series is the definitive performance upgrade for Hope E4 and RX4 calipers. Whether you are racing enduro, navigating city traffic on a road bike, or tackling steep, muddy descents, Galfer offers a specific organic semi-metal compound tailored to your environment.
Each compound is color-coded, allowing you to choose the perfect balance of initial bite, heat resistance, and durability for your specific riding style.
The 4 Key Compounds Explained
1. Standard (Black - G1053)
The Standard compound is the versatile "all-rounder" designed for universal riding. It provides a balanced compromise between effective braking power, low noise, and long-term durability. It is the ideal choice for amateur riders and those who want a predictable, consistent feel across various terrains without having to swap pads for different seasons.
2. Pro (Green - G1554T)
The Pro compound is Galfer’s race-ready solution. Its most unique feature is that it requires no bedding-in period, meaning it provides maximum "bite" and performance from the very first pull.It is engineered for extreme heat resistance and high-speed stability, making it the favorite for competitive downhill and enduro racers where ultimate stopping power is the only priority.Note: The tradeoff for this high performance is a shorter overall pad life.
3. Advanced (Red - G1851)
The Advanced compound is your "Winter Specialist." Formulated with basaltic fibers and specific coatings that absorb moisture, these pads are designed to maintain high friction levels in extreme wet and muddy conditions. While other pads may lose power or squeal when soaked, the Advanced compound stays silent and powerful, offering a consistent feel in the worst weather.
4. Road (Blue - G1455)
The Road compound is specifically tuned for the high speeds and sustained braking heat experienced on tarmac. Developed with over 60 years of braking expertise, these pads offer superior modulation—allowing you to "feel" exactly how much grip you have—while minimizing vibrations and rotor wear. They are optimized to perform silently and effectively in both bone-dry summer heat and wet winter commutes.

✅ Why This IS For You
Customized Performance: You can tailor your braking feel to your specific needs—choose Pro for racing, Advanced for winter, or Standard for daily versatility.
Quiet Operation: All Galfer compounds are designed to eliminate the high-pitched squeal common with many metallic aftermarket pads.
Rotor Friendly: These compounds are engineered to be gentler on your brake discs, potentially extending the lifespan of your expensive Hope rotors.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
Wrong Compound Choice: Using the Pro pads for casual commuting will result in premature wear, while using Standard pads for elite gravity racing may lead to heat fade.
Sintered Fans: If you prefer the very "on/off" and aggressive feel of a full sintered metal pad, these organic semi-metal options may feel too progressive or "soft" at the lever.
BFC Pro Tip
If you choose any compound other than the Pro (Green), you must follow a proper bedding-in procedure. Find a safe, quiet hill and perform 20–25 controlled stops from a moderate speed. This transfers a thin layer of pad material to the rotor, which is essential for achieving full stopping power and preventing "glazing."
