SENNIX PR3 CRANKSET
The Versatile 24mm Spindle Standard.
The SENICX PR3 Crankset is widely regarded as one of the best value-for-money upgrades for riders looking for a modern, direct-mount setup without changing their current bottom bracket. Unlike the PR1 and PR2 models which use a 28.99mm (DUB) axle, the PR3 features a 24mm spindle, making it a direct "drop-in" replacement for Shimano Hollowtech II systems.
Constructed from Forged AL-6061-T6 aluminum with a high-strength Chromoly steel axle, the PR3 balances weight and durability. It is particularly popular for its 3-Bolt Direct Mount interface, which allows you to easily switch between double road rings and single (1x) narrow-wide gravel rings.
Key Features
Shimano Compatibility: The 24mm steel spindle ensures it fits into any standard Shimano-style bottom bracket, simplifying the upgrade process.
Extensive Length Options: Offers a broad range of arm lengths (165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm, and 175mm), making it a go-to choice for riders seeking harder-to-find shorter cranks.
Direct Mount Flexibility: Uses the SRAM 3-Bolt pattern, allowing for seamless transitions between 2x road setups and 1x gravel configurations.
Chromoly Steel Axle: Provides superior fatigue life and stiffness compared to aluminum spindles, ideal for high-torque climbing or rugged gravel riding.
11S/12S Optimized: Precision-machined chainring teeth provide smooth, reliable shifting for all modern 8-speed through 12-speed drivetrains.
Lightweight Profile: Weighs approximately 765g to 789g (including chainrings), making it significantly lighter than many entry-level OEM cranksets.

✅ Why This IS For You
Shimano Upgraders: If you currently have a Shimano 105 or Tiagra groupset and want a lighter, direct-mount look without buying a new bottom bracket.
Short-Legged Riders: The availability of 165mm arms is a major benefit for maintaining high cadence and reducing "hip rocking" during the pedal stroke.
Gravel & Adventure Bikers: The 46/30T sub-compact and 1x narrow-wide options provide the low-range gearing needed for loaded bike-packing or steep off-road climbs.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
DUB Frame Standards: If your frame specifically requires a 28.99mm DUB spindle, you should choose the SENICX PR1 or PR2 instead.
Absolute Weight Obsessives: While light for the price, it is still an aluminum crank. For the ultimate weight savings, you would need to step up to a carbon fiber model.
Extreme Q-Factor Sensitivity: Some users report the PR3 has a slightly wider stance (Q-Factor) than Shimano 105; riders with very narrow hips may notice a slight difference in feel.
BFC Pro Tip
The SENICX PR3 is the "Swiss Army Knife" of cranksets because of its 3-bolt mount. If you decide to move from road racing to gravel riding later, you don't need a new crankset—you can simply swap the double-ring spider for a single direct-mount narrow-wide ring. When installing, ensure the pre-load tensioner cap is adjusted until there is no lateral play in the axle, then tighten the non-drive side pinch bolts to the recommended torque
