SHIMANO K04TI METAL BRAKE PADS
The Professional Choice for Lightweight Power.
The Shimano K04Ti Metal Brake Pads represent the top-tier of stopping power for modern road and gravel disc brake systems. These pads feature a high-friction sintered metal compound paired with a specialized Titanium backing plate. By using titanium instead of standard steel, Shimano has created a pad that is not only lighter but also acts as a superior thermal barrier, shielding your caliper’s pistons and mineral oil from the extreme heat generated during long, technical descents.
Engineered for the demands of competitive racing and all-weather riding, the K04Ti compound provides a firm, consistent lever feel and a powerful initial bite. Whether you are navigating a wet, grit-covered cyclocross course or descending an alpine pass in the heat of summer, these pads deliver the reliability and durability required for high-stakes performance.
Key Features
Titanium Backing Plate: The premium titanium construction offers a significant weight saving while providing exceptional strength and better heat insulation than steel.
Sintered Metal Compound: Engineered for maximum stopping power, these pads offer a firm, communicative feel that remains consistent even under high temperatures.
All-Weather Reliability: Metal pads maintain their friction coefficient in mud, rain, and grit, making them far more durable than resin pads in harsh conditions.
Superior Wear Resistance: The hardened metal construction provides a longer lifespan, reducing the frequency of pad changes for high-mileage riders and commuters.
No-Fin Design: The compact, "sleek" profile is designed for modern Flat Mount calipers, offering a minimalist aesthetic without sacrificing performance.
Quiet & Smooth: Despite being a metal compound, the K04Ti is refined to provide a smooth engagement with minimal vibration compared to lower-grade sintered pads.

✅ Why This IS For You
Road & Gravel Racers: If you are looking for the lightest possible metal pad to complement your high-end carbon build.
Alpine & Mountain Descenders: Perfect for riders who tackle long, steep descents where heat management and fade resistance are critical for safety.
CXP & Mud Enthusiasts: Ideal for those who ride in wet, gritty conditions where standard resin pads would wear down in a single ride.
❌ Why This May NOT be for you
Noise-Sensitive Riders: Like all metal pads, these can be noisier than resin alternatives, particularly in wet conditions or before they reach operating temperature.
"Resin Only" Rotors: These pads are very aggressive; ensure your rotors are "Metal Compatible." Using them on "Resin Only" discs will cause rapid rotor wear and poor braking.
BFC Pro Tip
The K04Ti is a high-performance part, so don't skip the "bedding-in" process. Find a quiet road and do 20 firm stops from 25km/h down to a walking pace—this "mates" the pad to the rotor for maximum power and a quieter ride. Because these have a titanium back, they are very resistant to corrosion, but we still recommend a quick spray with a dedicated brake cleaner after a particularly muddy ride to keep the sintered surface from becoming glazed. If you want the ultimate "pro" setup for your GRX or Ultegra group, these are the pads to beat!
